Good idea or not?

I see people having crappy wax jobs with bugs stuck in it, (how gross) and one guy looked at my new wax job and was astounded at how grippy it is and hown nice it smells, and told alot of guys, I was later flocked by a ton of people, and people asked me weather I can wax there boards for them, and now I am thinking, maby I sould start a board waxing survace, seeing as everyone else is to lazy to do it themselves, now, I wounder, how much sould I ask?

The wax costs about $4 (1 block of base coat, and a block of top coat, plus I live in south africa so imports can make it a bit more expensive.) It useully takes about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to do really good wax job (including taking off the old wax) And I double the wax costs for a longboard (1 1/2 for a minimal) plus it will take me 3 hours for a longboard, how much sould I charge.

not sure you could make much £££ on that. the thing is, it takes me about 10-15 mins to completely remove all old wax and clean the board so its as clean as new. then it takes a little under 5mins to rewax my board properly and i am ready for the sea. realisticly you're looking at about 20-40 mins (tops) to remove all wax and re wax it. so thats maybe about £5ish an hour which isn't worth it as you're arm will be dead for about a week after a couple of hours work (meaning less surfing). if you want money you'd be better off looking for a saturday job earning around £20-£40 (not sure what that is in dollars) and then saving that for whatever you want to buy.

plus i forgot to add. i'm not sure how many people would want to pay to have their boards waxed because they could do it themselfs (well thats what i think most people would do) but saying that...its the same as cleaning windows...people could do it themselfs but don't always

I have 6 longboards and a fish. How much would you charge to do the top and bottom of all boards?

Thing is, 2 longboards are tankers, only really used in the summer, so I would need tropical on the top, but the water temps are still pretty low, so I would need cold water wax on the bottom, one of my longboards is a gunny shape, only really used in winter, so I would need cold water on top, and super cold on the bottom, the other three and my fish are used whenever, so I would maybe need bands of tropical through to cold on the top of those, to give superior traction in all weather conditions, and maybe cold through to frigid on the bottom to make sure I have superior speed in all water temperatures. I reckon it would be a good idea to make the cold water wax in wider bands than the warm water wax, because I've been know to break out the poo stance on big days in the winter. Please keep that last bit a secret, the shame is hard to live with. I use a flouro carbon wax on my snowboard, it works great in slushy conditions, would you reccommend that for the bottom of my boards?

Does the service provide its own wax or must I supply?? If supplied what brands do you offer....do you offer ding repair as well?? Or is wax your only gig? Is there a warranty? What are rates??? I'm expecting a good price. The SW discount.

The dings are professionally done by stuffing as large a wad of wax into the offending ding as one can muster. If he runs out of wax the next tool of choice is plato, in which case you can choose what color you want.

I wasn't thinking about charging much, the thing is, I have to come up with something to do to get a little money, because over here you may not get a job unles you are 16+ (I am 14), I saw pictures of your wax jobs and it looks OK, but over here people are lazy and will pay you for doing something that they don't want to, plus I must say the reason it takes so long is the build up from 3 years of just adding another layer, I willo obviosly charge less for someone who has a thin layer on there boards, because to me the thing that takes the longest is taking off the wax, because these guys have an inch of wax (among other things.) on there boards. I wasn't thinking of charging more than $10 (including the wax, meaning about $6 profit) I am just thinking of earning a few bucks, not major cash.
