What size for me

Postby GregB » Mon Jan 14, 2008 4:57 am

Hey guys,

I'm movin back to the water after some years aways from the coast (it's been rough). I'm a longboarder and am trying to figure out what size I should get as last time I rode I was smaller but am now done growing.

I am 5'8", 145lbs. I'm looking for a good noserider, what dimensions should I look for and if certain shapes are better for gettin the toes on the nose etc.

If you check out Harbour Surfboard website, they have size recommendation for each of their boards. It's a good place to start.

However, size comes down to preference. The longer you go, the more stability in nose riding and ease of paddling, but it'll be harder for you to turn and maneuver. And vice versa. I'm 5'9" and 165lbs, and my longboard is 9'6".

Check out your local surf shops for rentals. Maybe you can try out some boards before buying. Hope this helps!

That really breaks down to your own preference. For your size I would say a 9 to a 9'10". 3 plus inches thick not too much rocker if you want two nose ride.

9'+, at least 2.5" thick, preferably beefier. Concave nose will help with nose riding, round nose, my input. Easy on the rocker for nose rider.

thanks guys, I'm going to go with a board anywhere between 9'6" and 9'10". What I had not considered was the amount of rocker.

you can get away with a 9'0 to 9'4. If you are new to noseriding, then go 9'6
