I lay in the most shark invested waters in the world (Mosselbay, westerncape) and it is a popular tourist destination, and there are only 1-2 attacks a year, and there are an avaridge of 900 000 tourists a year, plus a ton of locals, I've seen a few sharks, but they are no threat to me or anybody else, the only times a shark attacks is when you attack them, alot of tourists are so stupid, when they see a shark close to them, they hit the shark, esp on the nose, and obviosly the shark feels threatened and defends himself, duh.

We surf the east coast of florida and just a couple weeks ago we saw a 6ft bull shark right next to my buddies board when he was paddling out, and about a month before that saw another shark not sure what kind. The thing is there are always sharks out there with you, you just don't see them all the time. Just yesterday we were surfing with about 4 dolphins right up close to us, it was the most amazing thing to see.

Last summer I was sitting in the lineup waiting for the next set to come in and there were a bunch of dolphines surfing the waves with us. While I was looking out to sea I heard something to my left and when I looked to see what it was it startled me. There was a big a@# dolphine jumping out of the water and over my left shoulder. I could have head butt the thing it was so close to my face. That was awsome!
