Tar on My gear

Av got black sticky stuf all over me wety, boties and board, think its tar how do i get it off my wet gear, guna try acitone on my board any one got any ideas

I feel sorry for the poor birds what get coated in this stuf

i dunno if you have it on that side of the ocean, but here in the states we have something called "GoJo" which is really strong hand cleaner with pummus bits in it. (or however you spell it) it will strip motor grease, gasoline, pine pitch, paint, polyester resin, etc off in a heartbeat... you might try some of that...

yeah you can get both from most hardware stores.

Yeah, I'm being totally serious about margarine. When I was a kid, I used to spend summers covered in tar from the beach, my mother used to use it to clean it off.

I just got tar on all over my feet and board Monday. I used Goo Gone and it took it off perfectly.

Johno,
Try to avoid using acetone. It is the solvent for resins used in laying fiberglass. I'd try light stoddard solvent (sold as WD-40 in the US and very light kerosene), mineral spirits, and/or denatured alcohol. You might also try something called Simple Green in the US. It is not as strong as the other stuff I mentioned, so you may have to let it soak a bit.
