Photographer looking for Santa Cruz surfing subject

I'm a photographer looking to put together a photo essay for my portfolio (and possible use in a photo contest). Preferably looking for someone who surfs regularly at Steamer's Lane (challenging with a good vantage from above with a long lens) and/or someone with a story to tell. No money involved, but you can have the rights to use anything I shoot, and I'll throw in a 13"x19" color print of your favorite shot.

Why don't you just go ahead and take pictures of the surfers out at Steamer's Lane and make contact with the surfers when they return to their cars? Surfers love to have their picture taken. I doubt you'll have trouble finding a subject.

Most of the surf photographers here in HI just take pictures and either sell them to mags or put them up for sale on websites so the amateur surfers can purchase photos of themselves.

If you want to come down to San Diego, I can show you plenty of breaks with excellent vantage points to shoot from.
