your wife is good but does she paint any fiction? my thing is if its a real scene id rather just see it for myself. which is why photography isnt really an art unless you use it in a way to manipulate the subject or become fiction. i see a lot of paintings in hawaii like these that are really tehnically talented, but lack creativity. the ones that really strike me are when someone has the skill and plays with your imagination, memories, etc. i have a freind who makes paintings of ambiguous but cute characters and uses color to emphisize their cuteness but then has them doing something dememted that reflects society in some way like mass media or religion, and has 100's of these like 1 inch characters on 5 or more huge canvas'. to me thats more interesting because it makes me look more and wonder what the fleshin' is going on

anoher thing that bugs me is the straight forward in your face political approach to art. for art to be art i think it has to reflect something within the viewer and that stuff is just like someone holding a sign in your face that says impeach bush or something.
