I only wish the West Coast was the same, 3 weeks of no surf and a little predicted Tuesday and I have to work. By the time I get off it will be onshore and blown out!

Summer in WA does have one downside!

You forgot to mention that it's also 27 degrees Celcius and the not a cloud in the sky

I'm waiting for the swell to build so that the Sunday weekend warrior crowds will thin out. Shame it's back to work tomorrow as it's going to be solid all week. At least I've got the pre work and after work sessions to hit. It'll be a slow week so I might take some extra long lunch breaks too

Australia has its small days, like today, too - but a fun day was had at Cronulla with Jimi :D

Ive now got very sore shoulders (paddling), eyes (squinting), and arms (inexplicable sunscreen failure on forearms)

A good day, time for a cool bath.

It wasn't as good as I had hoped but conditions were just sensational.
Some good fast rights and with the NE swell coming thru you could catch a real peaky start to the wave and finish off with a close-out barrel...
Im not opening my business tomorrow. Im going surfin'...
We had dolphins out today as well.

Got to love the Aussie summer!!

Damn, i knew we should have travelled a bit further. Cronulla was pitifully small, and busy. Looks like the after work sessions will be ok this week though.

Guys.... you should go down to Stanwell Park.
Its just over a half hour from Sutherland (Crunulla) and its a swell magnet!

Don't you just love it...
Day off, sleep in, check the surf-cam and find this on the report by a reputable source...

Wollongong NSW 7:01am 31/12/2007
Swell size: 4-6ft
The surfs going off with 4-6ft of NE swell. The winds are from the NW but will go NE later and get stronger .Conditions smooth early but will chop up more with the NE later. Northern ends of beaches .Check out our latest swell forecast.May get bigger later.

I can see it breaking off Wedding Cake Island out my window... its a good swell

There's tow-in going on at 'bra at the moment. I might pop down for a look in a bit, but Im guessing the paddle out would defeat me today - its looking a bit lumpy in Sydney today. Big and lumpy

Mostly at the moment Im sheltering in the shade - bit too much sun yesterday. Yes, where is that zinc cream...?

Cronulla isn't the best place to be in the summer. Most swell in the summer is from the NE and Cronulla is a South Swell magnet which makes it a great spot for Autumn/Winter

I got to the Long Reef parking lot at 7 AM this morning and almost every spot was taken! Never seen it so packed so early. It was like a Sunday Summer afternoon.

Got a few good ones and few big ones on the head too. There were a lot of people out but because the swell was so peaky and breaking all over the place the crowd wasn't really a factor.

Now stuck in the office but might go out for a lunchtime session as nobody is here!

Hows Butterbox?? Much happening? Should be a few smaller ones squeezing in thru there?
Brownwater would be off its chops by now... You seen the other side of Longy?

Brownwater and Butterbox aren't really working, from what I saw, and most of Collaroy - Narrabeen stretch isn't either. I could be wrong as this was all from a distance and not for very long, Northy looked big. Best spots in the area this morning were just south of Longy bombie up to the No Man's Land pole. It's not very clean surface conditions unfortunately but good size.

The swell should be around all week, so hopefully we might get some favourable winds that will clean it up a bit.

I checked the webcams at lunch and didn't go it was messy and lost it's size with the tide. The cam perspective suck a bit but I could tell from the lack of people that it wasn't worth the effort.

I'm leaving now in lieu of my lunch break and going to have a look at Longy again.

I imagine that if it cleans up that Mystics down Shellharbour way would be the go for you guys? I've never seen it work but big NE is when it happens right?

Even Coogee is going off...

I watched for a little while and saw one or two rides, a few missed waves, and a large number of severe beatings  :?

I stayed out the water.

With 6ft solid out of the ne, i'm thinking that the cronulla/port hacking bay surf will be working! I'll be getting the boat in the water tomorrow for the run out tide, so if all goes to plan, i'll score some 1km rides from bundeena to gunnamatta!

Even Coogee is going off...

When its 8ft I wouldnt expect anything less , shame its such a bad beach for dumping waves. With the NE swell pumping and later in the week swinging round to the east Im sure you could get waves at pearl beach and many other places that are normally not surfable.
On that note , flew over Box head today ( mon 31st ) and it was going off !.
