Surf Bedroom Design

Hey Everyone, I wonder if you can help, I'm doing my bedroom up in a surfer style as i love surfing, I want the colours of Pink, white and green, and im also using Roxy as well, i dont want wallpaper as i want to paint, but i have no idea how to go about doing this, do you have ne ideas? xxx

I would recommend a brush. Alternatively, a roller.

Why not just do a plain background on each wall - maybe each wall a different colour. And then get loads of really nice poster-size surf photos, stick them in clip-frames, and hang them everywhere. Ta-da!

Another option for painting, somewhat more unorthodox, is the little known technique of gun-powder-coating.

Originally devised by 12th century chinese monks, this technique will have your creative paint flying around.

The process is simple enough: one large fire cracker or small stick of dynamite is placed inside a plastic bucket (so the wick reaches out the top).

The Bucket is then filled with the desired paint colour(s) and the wick is then ignited.

The ancient chinese would then run away and hope the wick didn't set fire to the turpentine or oil-based paints.

When they returned, the Chinese usually were amazed by the stylish artworks on their walls.

It was this painting technique that inspired most of the works of the great Jackson Pollock, whose artworks sell for more money than I will ever ever have.

Surfer style bedroom?

This is easy - first the smell: pick one corner of the room and urinate liberally. Let puddle stand for one week, top up if necessary.

The feel - get some sand and spread that into the carpet. If no sand available, then garden mud will suffice. Also deposit several wet dirty towels on the ground. Leave for one - two months, then move them around a bit. Colour is unimportant and can be whatever you prefer.

The experience - removed bed, replace with towel and mould-smelling sleeping bag. Surround towel/sleeping bag combo with empty cans of lager, some half-smoked tabs and several half-finished Ginsters Pasties.
Lay on the towel for 24 hours. Occasionally rise from towel, preferably stepping on something sharp (the empty cans will suffice if torn properly). Look out bedroom window (sea is an optional accessory) and mutter "ah, still looking flat", or when you are a little more experienced you can try "ah, its still onshore". Return to towel, smoke tab, bite pastie, sleep some more.

Voila. A surf bedroom.

Just thinking.....it would be kinda cool to fill a room up with sand and just pitch a tent in there.........

surf bedroom....if you are going roxy...check out the backgrounds available from their site and get inspiration there (just think of it "room-size")

i did a beach theme room, turned out great...but i painted actual sunrise skyline and water...

if you go a sunset route, do me one favor...figure out which way West is and make sure you put the sun on that wall. lol.

Another good idea, inspired from bitbybit, would be to buy 6 to 20 new surfboards (unless your going for the experienced surfboard look, then you go to play it again sports) and hang them from your cieling. Make sure the short boards are waxed from tail to nose so when you hang ten you don't fall. For authenticity your going to want to move into a 400 square foot apartment that has no insualtion in the walls because it was built during the stone age. This way you can freeze during the winter and fry durring the summer. It will give you character. When you wake up in the morning your shower will consist of going for a brisk swim in the ocean during the summer and an even quicker one durring the winter. The sand left in your hair will give you street cred with all the homies in your local surf gang.

Design schemes are difficult and it's not always best to copy someone else design. However here's one variation that is guaranteed not to be out of fashion for at least 3 years ...

In order to add a hint of 'Boscombe', put all of your posessions in sleeping bags and pillow cases place in a pile in front of the door (so no one can use the room), open all the windows, use a hose pipe to cover everything in water then say, "B*gger me its too cold to work/sleep/do anything in here!" and then leave for NZ for 6 months.
