Pilates - Anyone tried/do it?

Postby tomato3000 » Mon Dec 24, 2007 11:38 am

Just started Aikido (to keep fitter for surfing) and when I look around during the warm up everyone is much more flexible than me.

Yoga is famously good for flexibilty but I was looking at Pilates as doesn't that also improve strength as well as flexibility? And I could do with more strength as well! Has anyone tried Pilates and has it had a useful effect on surfing?

I tried Pilates. very hard work, but it is the physiotherapists choice for core stability work to prevent and cure back problems. get a couple of one to one sessions first if you can, expensive but very much worth it - little point doing the exercise if you're not doing it right.

I am taking Pilates at my Junior college next semester. I cannot wait. My fiance lost about 5lbs this semester.. and she wasn't big to begin with. she had just put on some "comfortable with my man" weight.

But if you are going to go that route, or at least with that mindset, you will also need to join Kabala or the Scientologists. Then get on the Oprah W. show and jump up and down on her couch. Something to think about....I'm on week 2 of the program and Oprah still won't return my calls.
