Training with a surfskate

Postby noodles83 » Wed Apr 03, 2019 2:57 pm

Hola chicos!

I am a beginner progressing to intermediate.
Practicing everyday on catching green waves 2-3ft on a 8'x22"x3 surfboard.
I still don't manage to turn or draw a line but they would be the next steps. I still go straight.

I won't be able to surf for few months, going to Argentina for 2-3 months and I will lose the momentum... Maybe I will find some spots but nothing I can do regularly.

For this reason I was thinking of moving to a skateboard for fun first of all, I like the idea, as well as to keep practicing anything that could help me for surfing any how.

I know about surfskate (Carver, SmoothStar etc...) and I know they are meant for training and improve maneuvers and I m not at the point yet but it could be a way to get there later easier, for sure better of doing nothing.

So would you guys think is going to be a good idea?

Would you recommend anything in particular for my level or situation?

Both brands (Carver and SmothStar) are good brands, buy what you can find and you will improve your skills for sure.

Apart from skate you still need to build your paddle power, stamina and endurance, so don't forget about it as well, as 95% of time you are going to spend paddling rather than surfing.
