Scarborough / Cayton for novices?

Getting mixed views on this so wondering what regulars on here might think

my 11yo and 13yo are building their confidence after a summer of surfing and lessons, so my plan is to get across to NE coast when the forecast shows a decent day on the weekend - some folks tell me Scarborough is safer /better, others Cayton is better (but not necc safer)

Reckon we might be travelling until late Sept / early October before water is too cold, in case that makes a difference

Not been to Scarborough but Cromer was my local spot for a few years. I would surf through the winter when the swell hits. I was wearing a 5mm at a time with hoodies and glove. It is pretty safe there and the locals are friendly.

I would say that North Bay, Scarborough and Cayton Bay are about equally safe. South Bay is also an option but is weak and gutless most of the time.

If it were me I'd probably tend to check North Bay first.
