I have two homes - one, sadly, landlocked in London, and the other is a purple camper van :D

In winter I can easily do a days surfing on the (fickle!) south coast (Wittering, Brighton, Bournemouth), but most weekends Im roving around wherever there is swell

Off to the southwest this evening... :D

I'm in the Midlands - Leamington Spa.

The 'nearest' breaks in terms of driving time are Porthcawl area and Bournemouth. Both about 2 hrs away.

Then you've got the Gower/ Pembrokeshire or West Wales.

If you're in Notts then you can look at Sutton-on-Sea/ Mablethorpe type area - yeah, I know what you're thinking but they do break sometimes!!

I made the long drive from the Midlands to Rest once on the promise of 3ft & clean (web surf report) only to find 1 ft and blown out to buggery!

Fortunately I've now found a reliable webcam for the beach!!

www.porthcawlsurf.co.uk is a good one, sometimes they can be a bit slack with updating the photos though so check the time/date at the top of the picture

I've seen it at around 3 ft and clean in Sutton On Sea - didn't have my board though - bummer!

Here's photographic evidence:

East coast - Norfolk'n'good! :D or more accurately - fickle as f@ck!
Its alright once you get your head around the idea that you can't just sit at home and decide you wanna go surfing and expect waves when you get to the beach - don't bother unless you've done your research first.

A few shots of me surfing various local spots -
