damn jellyfish

-Does anyone have the same probelem i do???Every time i go to check the surf, the one of few spots in my area, is bombarded with jelly fish, and i dont mean just a few i mean hundreds, and i come home with rashes all over myself from them.

Jelly fish suck. Our most common is the cannonball jelly. I've paddled out when they were hundreds of them in the line up. They don't hardly ever sting thou, and if they do its not bad. It's pretty common to see people throw them back and forth at each other.

Now the Portuguese Man O War are another story. Them dudes will tear you up if you get tangled up in one.






Still nothing compaired to the actual killer jellies around Austrailia. I woodn't wanna mess with any of them.

man of war (or blue bottles in australia) dont hurt, they make you itchy!! dont be a pussy . Box jellyfish and many other deadly jellies are scary as hell, however they only affect the northern coast of Australia in certain seasons..

I don't know what kind of jellyfish we get, but they aren't small, and if it gives you a "rash", you hardly got stung...

I've seen some that are up to 8 feet long.

I do a decent bit of waterskiing, and once Iwas skiing in an incredibly infested creek. Turns out that jellyfish nest once there are enough, or maybe they were just so concentrated.

I was getting out, my session was over, hadn't been stung, and then as I reach up to the boat, my feet go down, and all I feel is just jelly, all around my foot. Then probably 4 or 5 good size (4-5 feet) began to sting me, all the way from the bottom of my feet to my belly button.

I was miserable.....

But when I surf, they aren't around very much. Which is great.

We occasionally get blue bottles, just remember, they can't sting through lycra or neoprene, so if there are good waves at an infested spot, load up in thin neoprene if it's warm or lycra if it's warmer. Free waves!
