Long long surfskate

Postby BoMan » Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:16 pm

I'm intrigued by this video showing cross steps and drop knee turns on a BIG board. I'm a longboard surfer who likes to practice on land and can't do these maneuvers on a Carver c7. If you have experience with something like this, what do you think?

The video you posted is in Japan were the roads are very nicely taken care of. A long time ago the shop I worked at sold "Ham Boards". I guess they were the original long LONG boards.

Do you think practicing drop knee turns and cross steps on a board like this would translate well to the water?

She is a skilled skateboard dancer and her moves might help with cross stepping in the water. That said, she doesn't appear to be a surfer so it's hard to say.

Living inland, I can only make it to the coast twice a month and ride a Carver to support my surfing skills. It's a lot of fun but I need a stronger connection between my skating and longboard surfing. I ride too much rail-to-rail and want to reinforce turning by weighting the fin.

Been enjoying a Goofboard when being landlocked. Can walk forward to hang 10. Can't wait for that to happen in the water (in years).

Hello. Do they work? (Carver, etc). Are they better? Or can you just use a regular skateboard w super loose trucks so you can weight/unweight as you come out of a turn. I got one would that be similar?

Carver trucks are designed with a dual axis and I love how they work. Fast forward to 2:00 for an explanation. :D
