Good Mid-Type Board after a Longboard...

Postby XiloRider » Tue Jul 27, 2021 3:46 pm

I want to start venturing into shorter boards after only riding longboards.

Sometimes I just want to do flow-y turns without having to cross-step around on the board. Also, I've been surfing a local beach break lately that's faster/steeper.

Currently on a log-type board that I like to use in Santa Cruz a lot. I won't be able to go to SC that much when it's winter and have to stick to the aforementioned beach and similar locals. In these places I see people riding various "eggs", fish-type boards, and some mini simmons here and there. Also lately I've been noticing these longer (maybe seven-ish feet) fish twin boards too.

Anyway, what should I be looking at as "next step" to a smaller board? Is an egg a good choice?
