I sold my body board!

Postby IB_Surfer » Fri Oct 23, 2020 2:00 pm

After so many posts most of you know I am a board hoarder. However, what most don't know is that I started as a boggieboarder, progressing to a MACH10 and surfing Trestle barrels at age 16. Around 22 life got in the way of hitting the waves I returned to the ocean around age 30, but decided on a whim to try surfing. I'm now 55 and enjoying 25years or stoked healthy fun.

About 4 years ago I decided to go back to my roots, Morey Boogie is no longer making quality boards so ended up buying a Custom X board, some churchil fins and went at it, had a blast too, but missed my surfboard. So I put it away with the plan of going back to boogieboarding from time to time. 4 years later, I only used it a 2nd time with my kids, so ended up selling it.

Goodby bodyboarding, you were a great part of my life, I don't think I will miss you but will definitely remember you. That said, I do enjoy and value bodyboarders in the lineup, reminds me of my younger years, and hope the sport continues strong. Love watching their videos at the Wedge by the way.

I have never gone back to bodyboarding after being so intensely into it for several years. They didn't have boogie boards when I was into it. I have done a little bit of bodysurfing beyond bodysurfing in to get my board after losing it in the days before leashes. I was equally fanatic about bodysurfing prior to bodyboarding. So far I have managed to get rid if the first board that I acquired since I restarted surfing.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Yeah I hear ya about the good sentiments towards bodyboarding. I started out on a boogie board too. It was tough switching it out to surfing in the beginning, but the first time standing up on a fiberglass board was the point where I knew that I couldn't go back. The speed and the sturdiness of that surfboard transformed my wave riding experiences forever. The perspective of the wave was so much different on a surfboard too.
But it must've been tough to move on from a board with so much sentimental value. Sometimes I still think about getting a boggieboard again when the shorebreak is pumping.. or closeout barrels. Or just the nostalgia. Still has it's moments

I body boarded from 10 years old to 25 years old, then mainly surfed after that.
But I still collect bodyboards.
If anyone has any BZ Diamond Stingers or any other BZ boards, please let me know.
