Inflatable surfboards - truth in advertising

pmcaero's post on inflatable surfboards got me searching on-line. I have to ride the train to the beach and the maximum length allowed is 2 meters. So a inflatable longboard stuffed into a back pack would be great. Found these photos.

But look at the dimensions. 300 cm x 70 cm x 10 cm. That's like 9'8" x 27" x 4" !! How the hell are those girls getting their arms around the boards ? Maybe they're giants ! Giant surfing girls.

Well, let's not forget the eye candy for our female forum members. Look you, yes you, can duck dive a longboard / SUP like this guy.

So like the saying goes " Buyer beware". ( especially when searching on-line )

for the price of the BodyGlove you might as well buy one yourself and test it. Can't be THAT bad
But I dunno if Costco ships to Japan, because on the bodyglove website they are much more expensive.

Most of those being SUP boards, they are so wide I don't know how you'd paddle it. It was difficult on a hard sup board, let a lone an inflatable. There are more inflatable surf boards our there then I expected, although the longest I saw was 8'.

The Pendleboards looks interesting. They have a hard back section and the front is inflatable. Not as compact of course. It would be interesting if they made a surfboard version.

I have talked with a women who bought an inflatable SUP and last I heard it started leaking her second time out

Is it just my eyes, or the photos look like they are lacking natural lighting/shadows, i.e. they are photoshopped?

Inhale been talking surf with my Austrian neighbour who has learnt beginning level surfing in Sri Lanka, he is making trip to Sardinia, and wanted a shorter board and found a 7‘3“ inflatable board ( looks somewhat like a truncated SUP ) .
We discussed the pros and cons of thick rails and rubber. SUP fins but he is realistic and considers that he is not at a level to be concerned.

The price was about €250 euros including shipping so he can always on sell if it doesn’t work. But he’ll save immediately on airfreight!
So pictures.

They are Gong surfboards from France, so let’s see how it all goes I’m going to investigate the inflatable for river surfing.
It has rained here so surf could be up!

Having a good look at Badfish, river is harsh on PU boards! Inflatables seem hardier!

Based on similar analysis and considerations we are looking quite hard at the GONG I-surfboards.
Hence we are really curious as to what experience your friend ended up with here, please?

He is off to Sri Lanka very shortly, he went with the board to Sardinia but became unwell so the board is still unridden!
Will let you know asap !

Did your friend come back again ? can you say something about the board. Is it worth for beginner it and rather the 6.3 or 7.3 with 90kg thanks.

It hasn’t seen action yet, after Sardinia , uni exams and now Corona so no real results to report!

I now have a Mick Fanning 5’8” Soft Board Catfish for river surfing , first outing on the river wave this week! very interesting time ahead for me!

Thanks for asking , The friend with the Gong inflatable board still not ridden , New girl friend , tertiary high level exams covid non travel.
So not a likely starter.
Me after a Session at 110 kilograms where I crushed the Mick Fanning board had some rides at the hippopotamus level, see picture, did. basic OK

Since then I have been diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes so that weight and set of dimensions was life threatening!
End result, taking my own medical advice removed 22kilos of weight, balanced my sugars and carbohydrates, need only minimal medication.
Amazing recovery of energy and body function , back doing Qi Gong and waiting on the river wave to be available, knees still like a rusty penknife opening for pop,ups but not the weight lifting it was, exercise specific for pop and retraining around knee workings some a set of 73 years old back into surf days,

The label fits and no belly now!
