So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

That's just down the road from me! :D

I could go and watch it, but I'm not sure my ego could take a whole new level of someone being better than me
You'll probably find me surfing, but if not, I'll probably be in the photography studio

Gabriel Medina won the mens contest and Stephanie Gilmore won the womens. I was a little surprised Steph beat Carissa. I am happy that Gabriel won. He was one of my favorite surfers from last year although his performance was hampered by injuries. I was disappointed he didn't do better last year and glad he is starting off with a win. I am really bummed John John Florence got eliminated early and Sebastian Zeitz, I love watching those guys surf.

What is astonishing about watching the pro over the last couple of days is how the surfers make the waves look. They look great! A perfect clean barelling point break! Utter perfection!
Actually... no... the swell has been large and lumpy for the last few days, with the wind getting into it, and a vast amount of water moving around on the points. I've been out in it (not at snapper, but just up the road) and really had a hard time. Most of the time, I've ended up being swept off the point and down to the beachie a mile down the coast (that's not exaggeration).

So the guys and girls at the pro making it look so easy, well... it's just astonishing!

I would love to surf waves like that but it wasn't perfect. I never thought it was perfect but maybe the commentators were trying to say it was. The level of surfing from the pro circuit is so amazing. If someone was a pro surfer 30 years ago and lost touch with surfing they would have trouble believing what they are doing now....probably think it was some kind of gimmick. I love to watch them surf. Even the women on the pro tour are amazing. They can make average waves look fantastic.
