Surfers Ear Stories

Postby DennisLawrence » Fri Dec 14, 2012 11:55 am

Hi there,

Im new to the forum but was wondering if anybody here could help me.
I am a keen surfer and also a medical student and I am currently writing a report on surfers ear and its diagnosis and treatment.

As part of the report it would be great to include a short account of someone who has suffered with the condition. I was wondering if anybody here who has suffered with surfers ear would be willing to type up their experience/treatment and for me to incluude it in my report.

Thanks alot!

Hi Dennis are you writing up exostosis or general infections of the ear due to swimming and resultant fungal or bacterial infection?
Unfortunately in layman's terms both are often described as surfers ear. Obviously the exostosis is the more involved condition.
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
