I think those would be good for most surfers but the elite surfers would probably prefer knife edge fins due to less drag
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Roy Stuart himself actually made (makes?) some of these. I bought a set a few years ago but snapped one of the fins after about 5 sessions (my fault) and didnt replace it. Have to say I didnt really notice much of a difference, if anything they werent as good as my normal fins. I think perhaps they were a trifle large for my board - so not the fin shape per se, just the wrong fins

anyway, you can read up on them and Roy's philosophy

I have a whale tubercle fin and wrote a review of it in my Fin Primer, viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16523 it also links to an article by Roy „ inside Whale Bay ( Raglan NZ).

Ouch, back in the day people used to sand the leading edge of fins, and a very sharp trail edges , instead of plugs for leashes a hole at the base of the fin. stab and slash wounds all round , heal quickly and well!
