Post TIP(FIRST ONE EVER WILL BE USEFUL!): DID you know you can hold control and press backspace to delete the whole word rather than letter by letter?!?!??!

*New feature called post tip, i will try to find something useful to post here as well*

OK so i havn't been surfing at all recently. Kinda pissin me off too. Almost nothing till sometime this week. SOUTH SWEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
It looks like the 7 day surf forecast is starting to see only south swell activity. What this means for Southern California is summer is almost here. The water will get warmer, and the waves will finaly get better and not become walls. Meaning that mostly all of the surf breaks in my area will come ALIVEEEEE and i can surf like mad!

*OK BOARD PICTURES UP!FINALLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY BE GONE DEMMMMMMMMMON!*

6'4 x 20.5 x 2.43 epoxy pintail Recommended weight 190-200lbs. i'm 205 lol god DAMIT!

Post TIP(#3): If you drink hard alcohol or liquor before you start the light beers and such, it will make you have less of a hang-over the next morning. The reason is hard alcohol starts a reaction in your intestines which cause the absorbtion of the byproduct that gives you a head-ache and such to slow down. Causing a less of a hang-over :D

New ride!:

Ok so taht last video was garbage so i took it off fearing i lost some people's trust, so i put up a new one instead, and sadly i gained 3 lbs. In which slows down the surfboard haha. BUT for those of you who wanted to see it in action here is a nice video('ill never post up youpoop again) that shows how a new guy(me) can stillmove it around and such.

I"M STILL HAVING A HARD TIME going off and hitting the lip, snaping, whatever. Please give tips!!!! d=(^_^)z

Salt creek May 1st. Stay thirsty my friends!

Nice vid.
You need more speed to hit the lip.
You almost had it at 0:20 you see how you pumped for speed along the face you then descended and straightened out before the turn? That's the right idea. That gives you more speed for the bottom turn. Except at the turn you lost some speed pumping the tail and you swung your shoulders to tack the board, rather than turn it on the rail. Check the forum for the posts on turning.

As you are still fresh you should learn to pump correctly by throwing your arms forward to release weight from the board. If you learn that now you won't have to learn that later when it's harder to correct bad technique like I have to :-P ....

Also try to get some more front foot weight in the drive sections for more speed as you are on the tail a lot, don't go to the tail unless you are turning or want to stall.

You are doing very well for 10 months though!

Girlfriends lost to surfing: 3, a potential 4, but i'll blame it on surfing haha(its not official yet anyway!)
POST TIP: "They say watching him sleep is breathtaking. He is the most interesting man in the world"!

Smile!:

I did kinda learn how to snap but htis video won't nessisarily show it all at. The waves were very very mushy. overlapped constantly. but, i did gather lots of footage! :D
also i kinda had this intro mapped out for my surfing videos, and i finally decided to make it. its going to be used from now on maybe, dunno yet!

(if you watch it on youtube u can get a better quality version)

A fellow goofy!!! :D You are still looking a bit sluggish on your turns. You still might be too central from when you are pumping. At 1:05 or so you built up some nice speed :)

Girlfriends lost to surfing: 3, Althoug I have one interested, its the wax that turns her off lol(ITS ALL OVER MAH CAR)
PoST TIP: A surfer can never have too many surfboards. unless you have alot lol

AT 10 HUT:

FOR TEH PAST SUMMERdays i have been only surfing, running, and doing none of the homework for my summer class that i'm supose to be doing. Calc 3 sUCKS! SUMMER IS HERE! meaning more and more peolpe are out and about in the 70degree ocean! SO WARM I got rashes from wearing boardshorts! THEY HURT!

but as the video above curtails, you have seen the damage done to the surfboard. fixed it though!

I took some epoxy pUTTY and messed with it and put it on the surfboard so now its hard as a rock and my boards almost as good as new. i look forward to making more videosm of me surfing, cause i definately have gotten better.

I notice that i can snap almost every time on the backside, but on frontside i am naturally trying to avoid it leaing too far backwards.

I have been using a video program to edit videos as i get better with it, but trust me all my surfing moves are 100% noob lol. no special effects! i find the video edditing really fun and enjoy making the trailers and such.

Also now that summer is here, recall brooks street? this place only comes alive durring summer swells and i will DEFINATley get pictures and videos of the place where i was surfing born.

A nEw ErA:

1 YEAR!

ImageImage
I have indeed sailed the ocean! GONE PAST the winds and the mighty sea!<-dont know what that means. BUT I HAVE RETURNED from the promise land! I have learned how to snap on my backside and have accidentally changed my style of surfing the past few days. i have examined my stance (again) and have talked to some people that i consider gods of surfing. they gave me tips and some ideas that i found VERY helpful. I learned how to fly down the line! using a motion in my hand of a up and down way i have found that i can fly through walls and lines gaining incredible speed. In a sense i have found my lack of travel rather annoying too. I havnt put up much videos, pictures, and the original idea of this thread was fading as i put videos. BUT I THEN REMEMBERed that the whole point was to see how i've far i've come within a year, giving others insipiration as the 4 votes point out :)

I upload videos obviously open to critical criticism and to find that my video edditing skills are slowly improving. IN THE END IM" HAVIN MORE FUN THAN U! Also i got stung today by a stingray, hurt like hell.

so here is another video showing exactly what I havn't learned. its old news. enjoy!

if it was during the semester only like 2 times a week. during summer, i've been trying to get out at least 3 times. these videos don't do me justice and really show how well i've progressed. I have asked alot of locals for advice and tips which i have noticed significantly helped out, ex in the last 6 days. atm my board has a hole though :(

Something that I've noticed is the quality of the waves in your vids.
Are you always surfing the same waves as in the videos? You need to go somewhere where you can get more face time, e.g. point breaks.

Are you going on any surf trips, road trips up and down the coast? Get a van or a tent and go with some mates. I always found my surfing progressed a lot by getting some uncrowded waves with a lot of time on the face. The waves in the vids are all fast breaking and don't give you much time, very hard to progress on those. You'll progress in leaps and bounds in only a few hours on some proper waves that would take a year in waves like in the vid.
