Is she a looker?

A multitude of sins can be overlooked when you're a looker

My definition of a kook is someone who has absolutely no clue on what they are doing in the water but thinks they do

Agreed until they splice up your wave and basically laugh in your face

I'd say a kook is definitely to do with attitude of newbies. After people get good and start to know about surfing then ...i'm pretty sure... the official term for them would be, a dickhead. :)

Kook can also apply to a poser.

I'd say take the girl out again. She may have been trying to flash attitude to seem more legit and cool to you because she was nervous.

But if she keeps it up, just start dropping in on her..

I'm a newbie, and when I talk to surfers either out back or on shore I flat out tell them "I'm pretty much clueless...just starting out (like they couldn't tell after 5-10 minutes of witnessing my antics in the water anyway). I just make sure to stay out of they're way/off there waves and hopefully they'll give me some pointers and tips in return to help me get up-to-speed quicker. Everyone has been friendly to me so far. Why would someone lie about their skill level then knowing that they are going to have to perform infront of those same people? I don't get that at all. If I were to lie about my surfing skills (which I don't) I think I'd make up stories to people whom don't surf at all....."that one classic day at Pipeline I ... :-)

Aloha..just wanted to refresh the thread..

I actually spoke to the surfer Chick that Jo was on about.    sooooo funny!

We had a whole discussion on prices of boards on msn (3 way convo..me, Jo, surfer chick.) Jo pretended to be "away" and basically we talked about the price of her wetsuit, board, fins, etc.
She told me 40quid for her wetsuit, and free single fin.
Anyways Jo interupted and said..."i thought that your wetsuit was 400?" she then said "yea, it was. marked down from 400 to 80"

I know this makes no sence...but it was highly amusing at the time!
