Bonzer5 - BigH and Jaffa gonna be so jealous !!

A surfboard popped up on Craigslist Tokyo, which is rare. What is more rare is it was "made in Hawaii". And even more rare it was a Bonzer set up.

6'5" x 19 1/4" x 2 1/2 shaped by Cino.
It's big. It used with lots of heel and knee dents. But no dings and came with FCS Bonzer fins and FCS Fluid foils 6.0" center fin. for.............................. $100 usd.

Did I mention it came with a new board case and leash ?

That’s a beauty! Unusual with the removable fins, and a kooky soon to be ex owner with the super long leash cord but a beauty. Fins and bag are worth the price alone. Nice pick up!

I jumped on the first train after confirming he still had it. 1 hour 1/2 ride out to him. $90 board $10 round trip train. Well worth it.

I'm planning on buying a similar board on Saturdy. After I pick that one up, I'm going on a surfboard purge. I have my favorite boards already now I just need to blow out the ones taking up space. I think I'm up to nine boards now. Ridiculous. Need more self-control.

If you look at it and it brings you joy....keep it!

I only have 2 boards I surf regularly (and only own 3), but there are times when I am 'making do' with them (ie they arent ideal). But thats fine, they are both mid lengths that do most things well in most conditions. I guess I dont get a huge amount of understanding of different boards, but I'm too old to bother with that, I just surf.

Huh, I got a board made just before Christmas and the shaper called me today to see how it was going (pretty good customer service!) and I said it was great and was amazingly easy to catch waves even though it was shorter than my other regular board (which he also made).

He said ‘that’s because you are fit, you can still paddle well even though it’s shorter’

Me ‘I don’t feel that fit, pretty old and starting to get some aches and pains’

Him ‘stop whinging, wait until you are 60’

Me ‘um, yeah, probably (feels guilty)’

I want to post pictures of a Craigslist board I bought about a month ago that I've been having a blast on. Unfortunately my awful internet connection just makes uploading and downloading almost impossible. Anyway, I was browsing the latest Firewire boards and basically found a good approximation of my current favorite board.

My board has the same dimensions as the 7'10" model. The difference with my board is that it has a modest diamond tail and a concave on the tail. I have it set up as a single fin, but I'm thinking about changing it to a thruster. Another surfer suggested I get side bites for it. I'm just going to keep riding it as a single fin for now.

Score! I can't believe the price. I guess there's not a lively used market in Japan even these days? Once upon a time when I lived there was absolutely zero secondhand market except for the cars. Let us know how it rides once you have a chance to take it out.

There's tons and tons of used boards on on-line auction sites here in Japan. Shops don't want to put out a used $250 board next to their new $3000 boards. Craigslist isn't really known here, only the "Gaijin" use it.
