Hossegor / SW France for "Intermediate"

Postby chowmt » Wed Aug 21, 2024 12:21 pm

I was thinking of going to SW France / specifically Hossegor in mid September for a week (11-18th)
I'm getting mixed reviews on conditions around that time - I would say I have really good ocean awareness but would not say I am anywhere near advanced or expert skill level
I'm reading around that time there's a high chance of huge swells rolling through
I am really not interested in surfing 6-10 ft hollow waves and was really more so looking for a fun beach break to surf daily and enjoy France

Would going to Hossegor around this time be bad timing?

What happens in September is that first big swells start hitting western Europe, and you may get one while you are there.
If that happens you can search for more protected spots, since hossegor is an open beach directly faci g the swells.
