need surf spot infos for our family surf/road trip to WA

Hi there

Hope you guys can help me out.
We are a Swiss surfing family with two kids of 7 and 10 years.
We will travel to Western Australia for two month next March/April. Our plan is to make first a south loop (Perth - Esperance and along the coast back to Perth). Next a North loop (Perth - along the coast up to Exmouth and back to Perth).
We will take also our surfboards with us and I like to ask you where are the places we should check out for a
surf along this journey.
Below some details about us:
- My youngest just startet surfing and she doesn't need more than some small rolling whitewater in chest deep water, where I can push here into the wave.
- My oldest can paddle the waves by him own, but he can't do duck dives or paddle against stronger currents
or bigger waves. So any smooth breaking little wave of 1-3ft will be awesome for him.
- My wive does normally longboarding and she prefer also smooth little waves not bigger than 3ft. But here long board needs to stay home and she needs to use a smaller board for this trip as the big one will no fit the airplane.
- For me myself, the waves can also be slightly bigger and faster. Lets say my surf skills are somehow intermediated. So, no super challenging tubing waves, no shallow reefs or no solo surf in remote areas. just normal waves to improve my skills and to have plenty fun.

So far all I found out about surfing in WA is: long paddle outs, strong currents, strong winds, big waves, crowded spots and everywhere a risk of sharks.
not really what I tried to find for the above explained skills. But I am sure there will be still some places we should check out without sending my family into risky situations.

Which places can you recommend us to check out along the coast between Esperance and Exmouth.
As soon I know which areas are the more interesting for our skill levels, we will plan our journey to spend more time in these areas and concentrate more on other sightseeing in the other regions.

thx a lot

Marc

Hi Stoked family , an interesting travel plan and so different from Switzerland , West Australia certain provides epic swell but this is not what you need, there are times when it is learner perfect, Things to consider March April is heading to the heights of summer , hot and severe sunburn weather, but surf size lessens. Look to the Margaret River area and the surf schools there, they prefer to use gentler beaches in the area so they will be best options. If look for surf in Perth or near surrounds it is usually small and summer crowded, north of Perth to Exmouth and shark bay is serious surf country mixed with increasing desert landscape, you will need to learn to be seriously prepared to handle that! But the country is greatly different from Switzerland worth seeing.
Have fun I might be an Australian now in Austria but I know it will be worthwhile trip!

Hey Jaffa as an Aussie just to clarify - March and April are heading out of summer rather than into it. Have to be careful of sunburn pretty much year round in this hot bloody country . I believe surf size will be increasing through autumn on the West coast, though still much tamer than winter and spring!

Bendy you right. about March April being out towards Autumn but still ridiculously able to fry European travelers who are not sunburn aware.

Absolutely, the shift in seasons between hemispheres, like March-April, can surprise European travelers with intense sun, akin to an Australian autumn. Despite the distance, the weather can still be scorching—just an 'L' difference!Nrega Job Card List
