Port Aransas Texas surfing

Stationed at Fort hood, and finally making a beach trip to port Aransas. Noticed a surf shop there and had no clue Texas had a surf scene. I haven’t surfed in a long time. Anybody have some good locations my wife and I should check out? We were going there to do some beach camping and hitting up some good food/drinks. Now I have the itch to buy a board and pick up surfing again.

Appreciate any info! Also good shops and advice on a board for the area would be appreciated.

Brawp, i liked long boarding right at Port Aransus Beach Park when there in JAN 2019. Gentle long board waves, warm air & sea, and friendly surfers. You may also find breaks you like up & down Mustang island. billie
