Suggestions for Surfing Japan in June

Hello,

I am heading to Japan in mid-June for work and was thinking of staying and surfing. Does anyone have advice or experience on where to go during that season? Are there area that would be good with an appropriate storm and are less consistent, but are still good places to visit? Does anyone have thoughts on how to negotiate surfing in Japan in general? I would be happy to head to Miyazaki, Okinawa, or really anywhere in the country that has the best chance of good surfing at that time of year, but don't know the storm patterns and beaches around there at all.

As far as level, riding a mini longboard I can bottom turn, trim or light s turns for a bit, link a light top turn or cutback to another bottom turn and repeat a couple of times, front and backside. I can do this consistently on waist-chest high, wedge-shaped waves, and still do so but with less consistency as it gets overhead or a bit more hollow. I'm not yet good at getting a large wave count if the line up is very competitive, even if I can surf the waves themselves well. I'm not into high-performance top to bottom surfing yet, but am experimenting with shorter boards at the moment (small spring waves in CA are good for practicing) and making progress at it.
