Looking for surf spot near NYC in Nov/Dec- NO SHARKS

Postby BaNZ » Wed Sep 28, 2016 5:21 pm

I need a spot to surf for a week on Thanksgiving and Xmas. I'm not familiar with this side of the world. I could fly to San Diego, my favourite spot San onfre but the GW have all grown up now. I don't really want to be surfing in shark infested water.

Perhaps Costa Rica or Nicaragua? I heard Mexico is full of sharks too. Don't mind wearing a wetsuit but not more than 4/3.

BaNZ,
look at this! viewtopic.php?f=6&t=26830
Join the Ruffnecks or Ungratefuls surf gangs in Rockaway. Then spend your time off surfing with new friends close to home.

Maybe if I grow a pair of breast, they might let me in! But I would rather go somewhere warmer.

Yes, I guess there are more sharks in Mexico. But you will have sharks in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, too. Just have a look at this bull shark surfing a wave at a popular spot in Costa Rica: http://www.costaricawaves.com/playa-marbella/ . I think you will have to surf with them or surf in colder water.

Trouble is colder water is home to Great Whites which see wetsuited surfers as slow awkward seals. Easy prey!
When they taste the rubber they unite but a little too late!
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
