Baja Surfing Tournament Costa Azul at Zippers

Postby craigsurf » Fri May 10, 2013 9:22 pm

I want to invite all surfers to Surfing Tournament
at Costa Azul Zippers in Los Cabo from June 17 to June 23.
Lots of great surfing, music and girls. This is going to
be a great thing for Los Cabos as the purse is $155,000 dollares.
This is one of the best surf breaks in Baja. Hope to see everyone there.

Hi
Your post is quite offensive to female surfers - are you supplying the girls or what?
May be you should think about that a great proportion of surfers, especially in Mexico are females. The line ups I have seen were sometimes even 50/50. So you might put people off with a post like this.

You know when someone makes a suggestion especially regarding sexist or rather in this case prejudicial chauvinistic ass hattery you as a promoter should probably take it into account.

Graig. You are doing a very poor job of promoting yourself. Also there is no need to shout on this forum.
Thanks.

First off, it's "you're" and then it's also "too" fortunately I have a life and an amazing grasp on grammar and punctuation of the English language, unlike yourself. You came onto our forum where we are as respectful as possible to whoever posts here, and when someone brings up a valid point you simply laugh at them. You my friend are an imbecile.

Hi,
I didn't mean to start a war here, I merely pointed out respectfully that the wording of this post was slightly inappropriate and offensive. Craig - I have worked in the surf industry and for some big name companies for over 20 years and since you are promoter you should be aware of the fact that the surf population in the world in the last 5-10 years has radically changed and girls/women are now very much part of your target audience as surfers. In Australia this has changed the advertising landscape to some degree, as it now caters to a growing numbers of female surfers who are serious about the sport and they would be like to be treated with the respect in and out of the water they deserve.
By the way, thanks guys for backing me up on this one.

sorry i didnt grow up in the america you guys are living in. When I grew up it was ok to say girls and boys. I dont apologize for that to anyone. It never crossed my mind that I would offend someone for that. It really sounds like some very insecure individuals who are offended and then we have all the followers who get on the band wagon. Get a job

Craig, I think you are missing the point.

I want to invite all surfers to Surfing Tournament
at Costa Azul Zippers in Los Cabo from June 17 to June 23.
Lots of great surfing, cheap cosmopolitans, low carb snacks, hot guys in tight swimwear and a nail technician on call

Ok, I am exaggerating (and being admittedly a bit sexist for the effect), but do you think this ad excludes part of the surfing community? Would it attract you to attend the event? Would you feel uncomfortable turning up if this was how the event was advertised.

Your ad not only was aimed just at men (and, as Aqualife pointed out, women also surf) but appears to be aimed at men who require someone else to get them close to girls (or women, possibly). I'm actually not sure who you are marketing to - obviously not at women, men who are secure about themselves, men who feel uncomfortable about 'girls' apparently being supplied just as if they were the same as 'music' or men in a relationship.

I assume you are aiming solely at guys who wear their baseball caps backwards and call each other 'dude'. If that is your market, well, go for it but realise you have no chance with everyone else.

It not a bandwagon when you are wrong and everyone else is right. That is called being accurate.

Next time just remove the words 'and girls', have a think about what you are saying, and you will be fine. Yep, maybe that's patronising, but sometimes people need to be things in simple terms.

(and, by the way, dont assume everyone in the world is in America)

Fortunately I have a job and you're welcome for not having to learn German or Japanese. My day job isn't a job I fight for my countries freedom you imbecile. The next time you tell someone to get a job make sure you're sure they are unemployed. All you should have said was "sorry" unfortunately your simple minded thinking and closed mindedness inhibited you from doing so. As a great man once said "The measure of intelligence is the ability to change."

A bunch of united nation one world global followers who have got so weird in there thinking that every little word that someone puts in a thread has to be re thought cause your going to offend someone. A small short and inoccent statement about a surfing contest in Baja has brought out all the liberal GIRLS and a bunch of followers who get on the bandwagon cause they have no believes or identity. You need people like me to stand up and not bow to any one world followers who leach of the state. Pandaturo and Aquialife are you one of those 48 million on food stamps that the state takes care of and you walk around looking for a fight cause you feel you been wronged and offended.Just a couple more GIRLS who who are so insecure with themselfs with no identity that they get into a little forum and stir up trouble looking for attention. Attention seekers and followers I ask you to go GET A JOB. LOL. Then go surfing. Come to the tournament or dont, I dont give a crap! LOL I am not responding to anymore comments. Im sure this will make you happy. As far as the forum if you like my comments fine if not ban me. LOL
