Norfolk Surf?

Postby mrzakmacro » Thu Jan 03, 2013 5:25 pm

Hey every one, I have been surfing a few times in cornwall whilst on family holidays (but not for every long, and I wasn't very good!) However I did really enjoy it!

I remember reading somewhere that if you go at the right time, and know the right spot you can surf on the east coast, of the UK?

Is it true, if so where! AND if anyone has done it- can you hire boards anywhere, and does anyone give lessons!

Thanks,
Zak

Hi mrzakmacro, welcome to Surfing Waves!
I learnt to surf on the North Norfolk coast, there are definately waves there. :-D
The best time for surf there is October to March, when north and north westerly swells are more common. Look for big low pressures tracking across north of Scotland that generate winds down the North Coast. There will be waves following one of these low pressures.
Check out some Norfolk surf spots here. You can hire gear from the Glide Surf School in Cromer.
