Is this a good board for me?

I'm a novice surfer trying to get into the sport. 6'1" 75kg male, reasonably fit but definitely not paddle fit as yet. I'll be surfing beach breaks in the Mornington and Torquay areas of Australia.

Currently have a 7'6" softie which is too small for me to progress and I want a bigger board.

I have a mate selling one of these:

It's in slightly better condition, no major damage and watertight.

Would love some advice on whether this board will help me progress, thanks!

That is a very good starting point, pretty much suitable Have fun!

That size board and durability of it is good. However, $300 usd is too steep of a price for a 15+ year old board if that's the exact one from that website. How much is your friend selling his for ?

Another limiting factor is the bolt on MT-fins, which can be remedied if you get the adapters. Then you can use any type of FCS 1 two tabbed fins.

I think showing the San Diego board was to show what it was , Torquay in Australia would be a freight nightmare.
Craigs list doesn‘t work in Oz.!

He's put it on marketplace for $500AUD but I definitely won't be paying that - it's over half what a brand new NSP stick would cost me now!! I don't think he's done any research and probably just vaguely remembers paying that kinda price for it, it's in very good condition (better than the one in the link I sent)

At the moment I'm far too rubbish to worry about fins, but I appreciate the advice! Will definitely come in handy down the line if I end up buying this board (especially if I break the current fins...)
