What to do what to do what to do...
Two boards for sale and I can't buy them both.
Me: 6'6", 210lb, 45 year old intermediate. Surf the point breaks in Los Angeles (Malibu, Topanga, Leo, County, C Street, etc). I've spent the last year on a 8' (70 liter) Stoker V Machine. Fun board that is easy to go rail to rail on, but really bogs down when you can't roil rail to rail on those V panels. When the surf gets up to head-high to a few feet overhead I have a hard time making sections that other surfers don't seem to have a problem with. Sure, I could focus on getting better at surfing, but don't new boards automatically just make you better?
The boards:
1) Firewire Submoon: 8'2" and 60 Liters. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=24813 (Review in first post). This guy absolutely loves his, but the double concave in the tail looks suspiciously like a V to me. I think I'll be able to carve it, but is it going to bog down when I'm trying to point the noise and get through a critical section?
2) Rusty Moby Fish: 7'10" and about 60 Liters. https://rustysurfboards.com/products/moby-fish. This would be my first fish! My understanding is that fish are speedy, but will it carve cutbacks (don't care at all about vertical carves)? Also, the entry rocker looks super flat, which may be a problem at the top end of my wave size range for these boards.
What would YOU do? (WWYD not WWJD). I'm also open to any other suggestions in the same volume range.
Thanks in advance for any responses. You guys are the best. THE BEST!
