Stretch Fletcher 4 6.5'. Is this the size for me?

Postby jbsali » Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:29 am

Hey guys,

I've tried surfing once a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it and i'm looking to pick up my own equipment.
A friend of mine is letting me use her employee discount at a local sporting store and they recently got in some SUP's and one shortboard.

The shortboard is a 2011 Stretch Fletcher 4 6.5' Shortboard. The board price was $250 w/ fins and i've been really thinking about picking it up! They only carry the one style of board in the one size! My current weight is 140lb @ 5,6ft. From what i've gathered, a 6.5" is average sizing in my weight/ height category. However, i have read that the F4 boards are designed to allow surfers to go shorter then regular sizing.

Would this be an ok board for my lb/ft? I'm not looking to dump a ton of money into this sport seeing the only time i will use it is during the summer for vacation (oregon coast)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, thats about right... for someone who can surf. Absolutely no use for someone learning to surf.

As you're only going to use the board rarely, and on weak summer waves, stick to hiring boards or buy yourself a longboard (9ft+).
To be able to use a shortboard requires a lot of consistent practise - several times a week for months or years.
