Fast forward a few year (about 30) and myself a 2 other dads with our teenage kids did a week of surfing lessons at Harlyn Bay in Cornwall. It was great, I got the hang of the basics and really got the bug for it. Over the last few years, every time we went near the sea we went straight to the board hire place and tried to put into practice what we learnt.
Last week we went down to Watergate Bay (last of the year's good weather), but didn't bother hiring this time coz for my (45th) birthday I bought myself a 8ft Torq mini-long. We had a great time (me + 2 teenagers) and found the Torq to be much better than the foamie hire boards.
I've now got the hang of turning, on my next trip - which will probably be next year now - I will be trying to surf the green waves a bit more and improve my pop up.
Anyway I've got a questions:
I seem to have a small gash on the rail of my new board! it's very shallow and seems to have gone through the epoxy top layer. Should I seal it up with epoxy or something similar? (see photo)
Also do I need to remove the old wax to store over the winter? (It'll be in a garage)
