Hello 3rd rate surfer in SF here.

Hello everyone.
Grew up in the SF bay area. But between the cost of gear and lack of surfer friends I never attempted until I was in my mid thirties about 5 years ago. Completely lacking in talent but otherwise unobtrusive in the lineup. I surf Sloat and Linda Mar depending on conditions and who is joining me for the session.

Welcome to the forum. There is another surfer from Linda Mar area RobSF who posted his intro a couple posts below. And at least another from San fran area
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Gumburcules,
I surfed Linda Mar a few times when I lived in the SF Bay Area. I was a regular at Bolinas and Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz. Depending on your specific location, one these may be closer to you than the other. You might really like the mellow vibe in Bolinas.
I started late in life, too. Right there in the SF Bay Area. Welcome to the club for enthusiastic late starters.
