Newbie to Surfing

Postby PDBowden » Fri May 03, 2013 3:01 am

Hi there, I'm a newbie and I'd like to try surfing this summer at the Jersey Shore after the Sandy rebuilding is complete. What would be my first steps in getting started?

Hello PDBowden,
I would sign up to take a surf lesson from a reputable surf shop. You want someone who is patient and really knows what they are doing, so do your homework and try to find someone who will benefit you. You can also check out the "Surfing Lessons For All" section of this forum for lots of tips and insights.

Hi PDBowen, welcome to Surfing Waves!
In addition to Tony's suggestions, start getting into shape. You may be suprised by how physically demanding surfing can be.
There are some good articles that will teach you the basics in the learning to surf section of the site.
