You guys n' gals seem like a solid bunch! Great to have found you all and so far SW has been very helpful in getting me on my feet out there.
I am 48, new to the sport (a few months in) and surf in Tofino, Canada. Surfing has turned my life around and it's no understatement. I went from a pretty unhealthy lifestyle to taking care of my body and exercising every day. I feel like a million bucks, and on top of that, I have surfing to look forward to every week (I'm an hour from the beaches).
I am renting a beginners board for the first 6 months or so until I have a feel for what it's doing/not doing. I may start of on a long board when I decide to buy, and then possibly try a shorter board down the road when I get comfy on that. I'm in no rush, just enjoying my time in the swells and being at the beach.
Thanks!
John
