Hello from North Cornwall

Postby goldenbarrel » Mon Sep 30, 2013 5:13 pm

Hi, just registered. Started surfing 2 years ago at 38 after bodyboarding for 20 years. I thought it would be a natural progression but boy was I wrong. Took ages to stand up and am now trying to progress to unbroken waves which is an even harder step.
I'm totally addicted now though and can't wait to get smacked around by the huge swell thats predicted around these parts this week.
I'm looking forward to browsing some of the tips so I can progress. Even the slightest improvement feels like a triumph although I have had to reign in my expectations with every bad wipeout! :D

Glad you are so stoked! Just being out there you will progress. Your bodyboarding skills will help you so much with wave and ocean knowledge. Great idea about browsing through the forum. Learning the correct way will help you progress much faster, so you don't spend time developing bad habits and having to re learn. Good luck and post a picture when you start catching some open face waves. I bet it won't be long.
