8' 4" single fin

I have since sold this board, and I kinda miss it, but then I can't keep them all and keep adding new ones to the quiver. But this one was one of my best boards (for me), and has become the basis for a few boards since. It was a home built, and I got lucky on the shape, because I was new to shaping and it was just a shot in the dark to try and shape something that worked. The rails were thinned out, pinched, the nose had belly, and the only down rail was in the tail. I can't remember if it had a little V in the tail, but I think it did. I used an old aloha shirt, tissue paper, and paint for the color. I will attempt to add some pics from my phone, I just remembered I don't have any in my computer.

I’m still learning to post here, so I’ll start with just a couple pics
Oops I see the larger file appears upside down, I’ll delete it and try to stick with smaller files

In the first pic you can really see the belly in the nose & the pinched rails. The board had a unique feel, when the waves had a little juice, it was like it was really bonded with the wave face, probably in some ways like people describe displacement hull boards. It didn’t fly across the surface like most downrail boards today do. It was a good feeling, just different.

Looks like a sweet board. That must be awesome to shape boards to your own specific needs. I hear ya about boards that sit down in the water more.. feels more in tune with the wave when just cruising along. I've heard that displacement hulls work best surfing off the front foot, so maybe thats part of it. Really fun boards when the waves are right.

Thnx! I love being able to shape and ride boards specifically designed for me, but have to admit my knowledge and experience are limited compared to a professional shaper, so I just try to learn a little from each board, and enjoy the process.
