Adhesive for traction pad?

Postby OldSalt » Thu Jun 18, 2020 5:28 am

Hi all, I just put a new traction pad on a brand new board. However, it's quite a wide (Dakine Wide Load) and very stiff kicked pad on a wide tailed board. The board is PU with polyester resin. So it did not stick at the edges.

The kick part is so stiff it did not quite stick down to the deck. Just wanted to sure it up with some sealant or glue of some sort so that it does not lift. I was thinking I'd use Tarzan glue. Does anybody have any ideas about the best adhesive?

I am only talking a few millimetre at the sides of the kick. Where it would not bend down and stick. Just going to glue it for prevention.
Thanks!!

you can use super glue, its just a pain if you ever want to remove as its a hard lump on the board that needs a lot of sanding etc (albeit that you can just stick a new pad over the top so doesnt make much difference)

Contact cement or 3M spray might be better.

make sure the board is clean, no sand, no oils etc (clean off with isopropyl alcohol or acetone etc)
