cheap protection for rack mounted board @ highway speeds

Postby jaketherake » Thu Jul 07, 2005 7:38 pm

hi, I'm looking for a cheap way to protect my board when I make the two-hour drive to the shore. I have a luggage rack and I tie down as normal.

what I'm wondering: are there any creative solutions (read, cheap!) to protecting the board from flying debris/gravel etc. -- I don't want to buy a board bag, too much $$ for me at this time.

I thought about cutting some blue tarp and making a bag of some sort -- wondered what other creative solutions are out there.

thx

Um, this may sound stupid...but you cannot afford a board bag to protect your investment...yet you can afford a 4 hour round trip to go surfing???, you could pick up a second hand board bag for about the same cost as a tank of gas.
If you're doing anything more than a short jaunt down the coast or sommat you do need a board bag.

A good solid stone flying up at 100km/h spells ding.
