I dont usually welcome people simply because i feel a bit silly.....like by welcoming them i'm saying welcome to MY forum. I know thats not how people would interpret it and i know thats not how others that welcome people mean it but thats how it feels when i'm typing it.

Iomarti, even if there are lots of regulars posting in a particular thread, dont be put off, i certainly dont feel like i have any more right to be here or join in a conversation than somebody with only one post. Thats what i like about this forum, nobody has a kind of God like status, thats something i hate about other forums, regulars that think they are 'it' just because they have a few more posts. If someone has sensible input then its pretty clear from early on i think.

I still probably post more on general rather than surf topics as i am still learning, i read the surf pages but its less often i feel that i have something worth contributing. As i progress hopefully the balance will shift.

I think to keep this forum going just let people continue with the mellow atmosphere. I love the lack of hierarchy and bitchiness here.

Hi there. I am a new registered user, and 4-week old kook. :)

My thoughts: if the people are truly interested in making surfing a mainstay in their life, they'd ultimately be posting regularly on their own. No incentive would be required.
But my other suggestion is, seeing that a lot of the traffic (as mentioned) is in part because of beginners seeking tips, maybe it would help to organize a listing of all members by location and skill level, and maybe even getting the more experienced surfers to arrange a surf session with the newbs, just to get them comfy with the forum people, with surfing, and all that good stuff? If not, at least it could make for a friendly way for initial beginners to group together locally at their own comfort level.

alot of new surfers come here and ask a question. Once we answerr they thank us and leave.
We could get more traffic by getting up on the google rank.
traffic exchange anyone?
