Page views info for small planned upgrade

I am adding a little script to the site which will stop people / bots from downloading the whole site and caning the site usage to try to keep the site resources freed up for real visitors.
I am going to set a limit on the viewing speed which should not (me thinks) be a problem for anyone genuinely viewing the site but also will be putting a limit on page but should put a stop to someone scraping the whole site.
I would like to know how many pageviews a day is realistic from regular members - including forum and main site.
Overall I estimate it is about 6 pageview per visitor but on the forum it would be much more for a regular user who reads all the posts.
I am thinking of putting a limit of 500 pages.

I would appreciate it if you could :

A. Let me know if you think that your current viewing will be ok with this (people who post a lot and visit irregularly may need a more)
B. Inform me if you have been using the site and you have encountered a 'Server under Load. Try again in ' type message.
