Waves are usually good 99% of the time not the best place for beginners waves can reach up to about 5 feet on normal swell. Ideal time of year is summer and spring you should head out there and best tide is low tide.
Drive throughshell cove and there will be directions then you enter Killela State Park and keep driving straight there will be a parking lot.
You can camp near the beach, there is a caravan park right next door (run by national parks).
Parking is either down the bottom right next to the beach or at the top where you just walk down the stairs and reach the sand. Free.
Surf shop right next to road as you drive in.
Every two weeks Christian surfers is there and sometimes pine surfing academy
When it's flat check other spots that don't need the south swell.
