A good fitting wetsuit can be exhausting to get on, especially a winter wetsuit that's still wet from the last session. If you've ever had problems pulling on your own wetsuit, the solution appears to have arrived in the form of a package from Easy On Surfing's Rasmus Backman Sørensen. Rasmus has developed a new product called the Surf Jimmy, which is currently available at his website, www.easyonsurfing.com
The Surf Jimmy is a new product that you pull on like a sock, and is designed to help the neoprene of the wetsuit easily glide over you foot and past the ankle. You might have seen a similar thing being done with a plastic bag, but is much more effective. Here's how you use the Jimmy:

To test out the Easy On Surfing Surf Jimmy, I'll be using a custom fitted 5/3 winter wetsuit from Snugg Wetsuits. It's an excellent tailored fit, and the double ankle lining makes it nice and tight, ideal for testing out the Surf Jimmy.
Using the Surf Jimmy is as simple as putting on a pair of socks. So for any Aussies watching, socks are the things that Kiwis like to wear on their feet and pull up to their knees.
Get the Jimmy and remove the elastic from around the outside, unfold it and flatten it out. Having ensured you've removed your shoes, slip your foot in and pull it up over your ankle.
Next, get your wetsuit, put your leg through it and pull it up as normal. The slick material of the Jimmy helps the neoprene ease over your foot and ankle as you pull your wetsuit up your leg. This product is a dream for anyone with cankles, that's for sure.
Pull your wetsuit up as normal and once it's right up on your leg, simply take hold of the elastic at the end of the Jimmy and give it a gentle pull, and off it pops.
It's now ready to go on the other foot. Why not see if you can get your wetsuit over the other foot without listening to these instructions again. Good luck!
So now you know, it's simple and quick to use. But what about the product itself?
The Jimmy is constructed from a material used in sailing, it's both smooth and strong. It's been made to be reusable, so will not have to be purchased time and time again. Although intuitive to use, each individual Jimmy has the simple steps for use for those who have the memory of a goldfish. The elastic on the toe of the Jimmy is used for securing it once it's wrapped, and also of pulling it from the foot once the wetsuit has been pulled up. Don't worry if it gets a bit grotty, it's washable.
It's a neat little product, takes up no space in your surf luggage, or in the back of your car. It's simple to use, and works really well. If you have a tight wetsuit, it will reduce the force needed to pull it up over your feet and ankles, and as a result reduce the chance of possible wetsuit tearing.
The Easy On Surfing Surf Jimmy should particularly appeal to places like surf shops or schools, where wetsuits are pulled on and off regularly.
At the time of publishing, the cost of a single Surf Jimmy is $10, or $320 for a whole box (42). They are available for purchase at www.easyonsurfing.com
