BELLS BEACH, Victoria (Friday, April 17, 2009) – Pumping lines in the six-foot (2 metre) range and sunny skies are on offer this morning for the final day of Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach presented by Snickers, beginning with the Quarterfinals at 8:30am.

Stop No. 2 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach saw phenomenal action yesterday and with improved conditions this morning, the remaining eight Quarterfinalists are putting on their respective game faces in hopes of hoisting the bell by day’s end.

The Quarterfinals boast some incredible match-ups including Mick Fanning (AUS), 27, former ASP world Champion (2007) and past winner of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach (2001), battling ASP Dream Tour sophomore Jordy Smith (ZAF), 21, in Quarterfinal 2, Victorian wildcard Adam Robertson (AUS), 26, taking on ASP World Tour rookie Kekoa Bacalso (HAW), 23, in Quarterfinal 3, and veteran Kieren Perrow (AUS), 32, up against yesterday’s high-scorer Fredrick Patacchia (HAW), 27, in Quarterfinal 4.

“We’ve got beautiful conditions this morning with six-foot (2 metre) waves coming through the bowl,” Damien Hardman, Rip Curl Pro Contest Director, said. “We’ll be starting with the Quarterfinals at 8:30am and looking to run through to the Finals.”

Up first will be former ASP World Champion C.J. Hobgood (USA), 29, up against current ASP World No. 1 Joel Parkinson (AUS), 27.
