BELLS BEACH, Victoria (Monday, April 13, 2009) – A lay day has been called for the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach presented by Snickers with this morning’s small, clean waves projected to drop off throughout the day before a new system moves in tomorrow.
Event No. 2 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach has completed the first round of competition, and with swell forecast throughout the remainder of the waiting period, event organizers are confident of running in the best possible conditions.
“We have some beautiful, clean waves running through the bowl this morning but it’s a bit inconsistent and is forecast to drop off throughout the day,” Damien Hardman, Rip Curl Pro Contest Director, said. “We’ve called a lay day for the men’s competition and with swell projected to fill in over the next few days, we’ll be back at 7am tomorrow for a possible 7:30am start.”
Swellnet, official forecasters of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, are calling for surf to drop throughout the day before a new system moves in throughout the coming days.
When Rip Curl Pro competition resumes, up first will be former ASP World Champion C.J. Hobgood (USA), 29, against Mick Campbell (AUS), 34, in the opening heat of Round 2.
Event organizers will be on-site tomorrow for a 7am call for a potential 7:30am start.
