Even with a challenging new course (5 & 12 miles) thru thick kelp fields and a variable rebounding swell, this weekend’s Dana Point Ocean challenge had beautiful weather and a record turnout.
Honolua was a proud supporter of well over 50+ entrees in the SUP division, there were 50 in each OC1, OC 2 and prone paddle divisions as well. (Kids OC sprint was incredible!)
It was great to mix it up with other retailers from Harbour and Hobie’s , as well as such notable legends as Mickey Munoz , Jericho Poppler and Sparky from Rainbow doing the race.
Noted for more of a design forum, and dusting off the cobwebs, at the start of a new season, the contest attracted more than a dozen craftsmen bringing their newest race designs. Riders abounded on Ron House/Gerry Lopez newest visions along with the latest models from Barks, C4’s, Huki OC’s - the list goes on & on.

HSC gives a big ‘mahalo’ to Eric Melberg- SUP place finishers were completely stoked on the goodie bags.
