Swatch, the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) and the city of Wanning are delighted to welcome the top female longboard talents in the world to contest the SWATCH GIRLS PRO CHINA hosted by Wanning, 21-25th November 2012. Following the groundbreaking success of the inaugural event in 2011, the competition will again be crowning an ASP Women's Longboard World Champion on the tropical shores of Hainan Island.
Swatch Proteam athlete Kassia Meador (USA) and defending ASP WL World Champion Lindsay Steinriede (USA) will be among the top seeds in attendance, along with defending event champion Chelsea Williams (AUS) and former two-time ASP WL World Champion Jen Smith (USA).
"Everyone is super stoked to be going back to Wanning for the Swatch event," said Kassia, "The wave is really fun, the local crowd is rad and it's such a unique and exciting venue for a contest."
China's Hainan Island is located in the South China Sea, where the Wanning coast comes into swell season October - March when the north-east monsoon blows. The contest venue itself is a long lefthand pointbreak at Riyuewan Bay, an ideal wave for top-level longboard competition. Contest Director Dane Jordan said, "Everyone involved with the event, from the surfers to the organizers to the media are really pleased to be returning to such a world-class location to con-test the ASP WL World Title, and delighted that Swatch are continuing in their whole-hearted support of women's surfing.
