It's official! After closely assessing the sandbank conditions between Hossegor and Seignosse over the last couple of weeks, the beach of Les Bourdaines in Seignosse has been selected as the location for the second edition of the SWATCH GIRLS PRO France, the ASP 6-star Women's World Tour event running from 1st to 5th June.
12 best surfers on the women's tour at the SWATCH GIRLS PRO France
Close to 72 surfers come from the four corners of the globe and will be doing their utmost to make their respective countries proud in the hollow waves of Les Landes. All entered into this year's SWATCH GIRLS PRO France, the 12 top international surfers on the World Tour have responded to the call and spectators can expect to witness some of the best high performance surfing out there.
This 100% female leg of the tour is not only set to offer plenty of action, but also plenty of upsets. In fact, you can bet the handful of title contenders will be at the top of their game and all looking to strengthen their leads. 23-year-old Australian and four-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore has got her work cut out for her, especially after fellow Australian title challengers 20-year-old Sally Fitzgibbons and 17-year-old Tyler Wright both claimed second and third finishes respectively at the recent WCT event in Rio.
Other contenders to watch closely throughout the contest will be the 20-year-old Hawaiian Swatch team rider Coco Ho, looking to uphold her family's surfing legacy, as well as the local 20-year-old favourite Pauline Ado.
Not to forget the gorgeous 21-year-old and part-time model Alana Blanchard and 27-year-old radical powerhouse Sofia Mulanovich, both of whom could also excel in the Les Landes beachbreaks. These are just a handful of names among all the surfers present at the event putting their style, technique and flow on show as they vie for the title.
Time for fun
A series of evening activities and entertainment are on the programme for this year's SWATCH GIRLS PRO France. A signing session with the pros is scheduled Friday 3rd June from 17h30 to 19h at the Swatch shop in Hossegor town centre, where Coco Ho and Miss France 2011 Laury Thilleman among others will be present to meet their fans in person.
Everyone knows a surf contest's reputation is largely built from its crazy parties, and the SWATCH GIRLS PRO France will be no exception with night-time entertainment getting started Friday 3rd June at 20h down at the Café de la Gare in Capbreton for an evening of air guitar and moustaches with The Trottles of Dead. These leftfield Swiss DJs will be lighting up the dancefloor for everyone at this local favourite.
Saturday 4th June, the night will get underway at 22h at the Rock Food for an electro set by DJ Feadz (capacity will be limited so don't show up too late!).
Last but not least, Sunday 5th June, head straight to Le Surfing bar in Seignosse from 22h for a night of I-Pod battling: the Battle of the Titans. Make sure you've got your most dangerous playlists loaded and ready to go if you want to be in for a chance of winning your collector's edition I-Pod.
Whatever you do don't go missing the biggest beach weekend this summer, the SWATCH GIRLS PRO France from 1st to 5th June at the beach of Bourdaines in Seignosse, France.
